Wow. 11 days later and I finally update. I'm sorry I've been slacking.
The title of this post refers to my biopsy results. Well, I'm not going to need surgery! It's not cancerous. The doctor told my mom that as long as I lose weight, eat healthy, and exercise, I should be fine.
Losing the weight I have lost has helped my thyroid so continuing to do so should show even better results. :) Good news.

And I'm glad today is Friday and I can chill and sleep in tomorrow. It's a nice feeling!

One Year Older and Wiser Too...

January 17, 2011

Happy 26th Birthday to Me!

Today was seriously one of the best birthdays ever!
Since I had the day of (thank you Martin Luther King, Jr.!), I slept in until about 9 AM. It was nice to catch up on my sleep! After waking up, I checked my weight and I am happy to say I finally saw a loss! -1.6 lbs.! That's a good loss compared to how my body's been lately. The -1.6 made me smile.
Then my mom made me a yummy breakfast of eggs, Spam, and rice. Yum yum. Don't diss it. You need to try it before you say ew. Lol.
After breakfast it was time to get ready for my biopsy appointment in Suwon. I straightened my hair and got dressed (I wore something purple, of course). As I was in my room I heard my parents. They started to sing "Happy Birthday" to me! I looked out of my room and saw my dad carrying an ice cream cake from, you guessed it, Baskin Robins! There were candles on it that were lit and I couldn't help but smile. I was shocked too. Why? Because the night before, we had the missionaries over for dinner and the topic of ice cream cakes came up. My parents told everyone that they went to Baskin Robins on base to get me a cake and the freezer had broken down! So no cake for me. Ha ha. Today, however, I had a cake. My dad told me that there happened to be one left, a cookies 'n cream one. Therefore, I had my ice cream cake!
Me and my darling mother.

Me and my scrumptious cake.
Making a wish...
Blowing out the candles.

All done! It took one big breath and a short one to blow them all out.
 Being happy.
Pretty cake.
After blowing out the candles we had to hurry and get ready for our trip to Suwon, so we put the cake in our freezing cold laundry room and left.
(To be continued...)
We arrived at the hospital early so we had lunch and then we headed to the section I had to go to. When I arrived I had to get an ultrasound done on my thyroid and then the nurse/technician woman put a white cream on my neck which would help numb the skin. I had to have that cream on for an hour. I talked with my parents and read random magazines. After the hour was up I was taken into another room. I had to lay on a bed with the pillow under my neck and shoulder. The doctor/technician used the ultrasound wand-thingy and found where they needed to do the poking of the needle. Then pinch. This happened twice. It was weird and hurt just a little. They gave me some alcohol wipes to hold up to the "mini vampire bites" (that's what they looked like) and I went out to sit with my mom and dad again. I was supposed to hold the alcohol pads to my neck for 15 minutes, then add a circular bandage (it'll make its debut in a photo), and lean and ice pack on the area as well.
After the hospital trip we headed back home to Songtan. My mom and I went to Escape, a manicure/pedicure place and received pedicures!
I chose a sparkly purple color for my toes. My mom happened to tell the ladies working on our feet that it was my birthday and I was now 26. They were shocked by my age since I do look young. ;) Gotta love good Korean genes! Oh, and while having my feet under the dryer, the girl that worked on my toes gave me some hair chopsticks as a birthday gift! They are painted blue, white, and silver with sparkles, stars, and snowflakes. Totally hand painted and really awesome looking.
"Pedicure on my toes, toes..."
Once the pedis were done, my mom and I went on base to meet my dad and then went to Chili's for some dinner. Ooh it was good! I had the mesquite chicken salad. It's pretty much my favorite thing on the menu (minus desserts) and it was delicious. Oh, and yes, my parents told our waitress it was my birthday and I was completely embarrassed by the servers when they sang. He he. I shared my amazing milkshake with my mom and dad.
My parents.
See that circular bandage? Yep, it is covering up the biopsy site.
Mmm...
Delish!
After Chili's we headed home to the birthday cake! Unfortunately, the laundry room wasn't as cold as we hoped for. The cake looked like this when I brought it inside the kitchen.
It melted but we wanted to eat it anyway.
First spoonful.
After eating some.

I am liking being 26 way more than being 25! Take that Quarter of a Century Life Crisis! I pretty much had one...I think. Either way, 26 is by far better and it's an even number. :P

It was a great day! I know this year will be fabulous because it already has been!

I can't wait to see what else 2011 brings!

Early Birthday Celebration

January 16, 2011

Anyone who has known me for a while could tell you that I seriously dread getting older every year. I love to celebrate my birthday, but to actually turn a year older...that's a different story. Lately, I've come to accept that it's going to happen, it's a fact of life, and growing older usually means becoming wiser. :P
Today I celebrated my birthday (2 days early) with my amigas Kirra & May Chee. These girls are fabulous and fun and most of all they like to shop! Ha ha. We did our usual thing of eating together. That never fails with us. We ate lunch at Maio Maio, an Italian restaurant. I ordered the chicken fettuccine and it was delicious! The creamy sauce had a slight hint of honey mustard. A little weird, but tasty, none the less!
Here I am about to enjoy my pasta.
May Chee ordered the same thing I did.
Kirra had chili chicken salad.
My plate of deliciousness.
I seem to like restaurant napkins. I collect the ones with restaurant logos on them.
All done!
After the Italian meal, we headed out for an adventure. We went on an hour long walk in 13 degree weather. There was wind and once in a while a snowflake or two. This walk was in search of the Goodwill store. We finally found it after getting almost lost, stopping in a couple of stores, and walking some more. I did buy a cute hat in one of the stores, so that was a plus. (It's the hat I'm wearing in the photos.)
The Goodwill store turned out to be pretty lame so we got on the bus and went to Daiso! It's a great store and 99% of the time, once you go in, you buy at least one thing. Today was no different. All of us shopped! It was fun and the things in there are definitely not expensive.
By the time we were done shopping it was time for - what else? - food! So we headed back to the subway station where AK Plaza is and headed to the 5th floor. Our dinner was Korean this time. Quite yummy as well.
I ordered the spicy pork bulgolgi. Yummy!
Here's a close up of my food.
Once dinner was over, we walked to another...Daiso! Ha ha. After doing a little more shopping, we headed to Baskin Robins, next door. Kirra & May Chee bought be a delicious birthday ice cream cake! It was literally and ice cream cake with no cake in sight. Oh my goodness it was heaven!
It had New York cheesecake and chocolate ice creams inside. Oooh yeah.
With candles. The lovely ladies sang to me!
This was taken by Kirra right after the singing.
I'm about to make my wish.
Once we dug in the cake went from this...
To this...
And finally the last slice.
(This slice is dedicated to Dani who moved to Germany. We missed you.)
A group picture, of course!
Me hugging my cake box.

It was a fabulous way to celebrate!

So Many Things to Accomplish, Only 358 Days to Do Them

January 7, 2011

So far I am on track with the biggest goal I have. I was thinking of getting some hot chocolate this morning (yum) on the way to work. Instead, I resisted! I mean, it's only hot chocolate, but it would have kept me warm while I walked in the freezing cold. Anyway, I avoided that temptation and walked straight to work from the gym.
Tonight I had to get a cap put on over one of my teeth. The dentist first did a root canal, and in here in Korea it takes more than one visit to complete that. I've been to the dentist about 5-7 times now. (I've lost count.) Here's the cool bling factor. The cap on my tooth is made out of real gold! Ha ha. I'm not sure on how many karats, but it's shiny. I'm just grateful that it doesn't really show when I smile since it's on one of my back teeth.
I hope everyone's new year has been off to a great start! I cannot believe it's ALREADY January 7th!!! Talk about time flying by! Do you know what this means? I'll be 26 in 10 days!!! *jaw drop* I can't believe I'm over a quarter of a century old already. Too bad I feel like I haven't completed everything I'd like to, but alas, that's what this year is for! So many goals and only 358 days left to do them all!
I used to want to avoid getting older in the past, but this year, I'm going to embrace it. I mean why not? The past is the past for a reason and you should only think of the future and what you can do to make it remarkable. :)
Ooh! I am thinking of doing posts on Wednesdays called Whatever Wednesday. These posts will be about whatever comes to mind. The weather, shoes, makeup, reading, cooking, etc. What do y'all think? Comment and let me know.
I wish everyone a good weekend! I am going to enjoy sleeping in...

It's a New Year!

January 4, 2011

I know I'm a little late in saying this, but HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! I love when a new year begins, not only because my birthday will be right around the corner (January 17th, *hint, hint*), but it's a time for a fresh start.
A chance to start over.
Make something right from something wrong (if this is the case).
To see yourself in a new light.
It's a time for change.
I will be creating a better version of myself this year. I want to be the best I can in so many ways. In order for this makeover to be completed, I had to write a list of goals. Resolutions sounds too fancy, in my opinion, and they have the tendency to not last. Goals on the other hand sound more long term, therefore, that's what I'll be making and accomplishing (hopefully).
I won't reveal every goal, because some are really personal, but I will say that my goals pertain to my physical well being, my spirituality, my mental and emotional health, and some other aspects of my life.
I want to be healthy. So far I'm good minus a spot found on my left thyroid in my PET scan results. I will be having a biopsy on my birthday. I pray it's nothing cancerous or serious. Fitness is also very important to me. This is the year that I will reach my goals. So far I've been doing really well. This is only day 4! :)
Spiritually, I am going to read my scriptures every night and that has been happening. Also, my parents and I have been reading the Book of Mormon every night together since Sunday. It's been really nice. Helps us relax after work and dinner and just spend some spiritual time together.
If you're wondering about my mental and emotional health, it's nothing like depression or anything in that category. I've been feeling really good lately and I'd like to keep that up. I just have to remind myself that Satan doesn't want us to feel happiness in any way and will do what he can in order to stop us and we have the choice to choose happiness over evil. Being positive, self-confident, and optimistic is something I want to be permanently. I'm working on that.
Well, it's getting late here in Korea so I need to do my stretches and get ready for bed.
Good night!
